The opening week started with a big bang for Andys Boys, taking on new side Daves Railroaders and demonstrating how strong this league can be, with a 24-2 win. Arms A also continued where they left off with a win over Town Central (formally Pewsey Boys), as did Out of Towners against Foreign Legion, both winning 18-8. It was a little closer in the match between Grand Central and Five Guys, finishing 14-12.
4 players started the season with a clean sheet, funny enough, all with the first name beginning with A. Roy Stretch was the only player to get 10 or more tons, hitting a total of 11. On the night there were 171 ton plus shots, not including 180’s. From the 13 maximums scored, John Cost hit 3 and goes into an early lead. Tom Smart took out 154 on his return to the league. Wayne Collins finished 116 and Stuart Giddings 100. Tom Smart also has set 13 darts for the fastest leg. John Cost and Paul Walker closely followed with 14 darts and Stewart Clackson had a 15 darter.
Daves Railroaders have another tough challenge next week, taking on the mighty Out of Towners. The only comfort I can give them, it does get easier after this.
