Summer 2023 – week 14

Congratulations to the Naughty Sausages who retain the title from the winter season. It couldn’t have been any closer. The top two teams battled it out in the final game of the season, drawing on the night. The Out of Towners started the stronger of the two teams, leading 4-2 after the pairs. A win for Luke Getty and Jamie Kelling, both 3-2, pulled the game level with two singles remaining. Steve Turner gave Naughty Sausages a slender lead, winning his match 3-2, handing the advantage to his team 11-10. A win for Rob Doran in the final game of the night, also 3-2, secured a draw, but that wasn’t enough.

At the other end of the table, Foreign Legion trailed by 2 points. Having started with a 3-0 win in the first pair, Andys Boys pulled in back level in the second. Big wins for Andy Harvey and then Graham Howard kept the game tied. However, it was Andys Boys that finished the stronger and secured a 15-11 win. That meant Pewsey Boys needed a minimum of 10 points against Grand Central to stay off the bottom of the table, and that is exactly what they did. Despite not winning a game on the night, Pewsey Boys lost by only 1 leg in every game, securing the 10 points they needed, losing 16-10.

Not forgetting the other game on the night, where Arms A beat Wolves TNT 16-10, losing only one singles match on the night. Again, all games were decided by only 1 leg, except for the last game of the night, Arron Monk winning 4-1. This means Arms A finished third, and Wolves TNT in fourth.

We look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday 24th October at the Wolversdene Club for the Summer presentation and Winter AGM. We will also be taking league entries for the coming Winter Season which is due to start on the 7th November.
