Its a wrap, the season has come to an end and it took till the last week of the season for Out of Towners to lose their first league game, Arms A beating them 16-10. Despite that loss, they still finished the season in top spot, 5 points ahead of Andys Boys. Andys Boys 17-9 wins against Five Guys just wasn’t enough in the end. Arms A finished 3rd, only 16 points behind 2nd and 21 points behind 1st. Grand Central managed to hold on to 4th place, beating Town Central 14-12. Five Guys took 5th. Foreign Legion came close to catching Town Central in 6th following their 16-10 win over Daves Railroaders, only 3 points separated them. And in their 1st season in the league, Daves Railroaders finished in last place, 69 points behind Foreign Legion.
It was a week of checkouts, Rob Hayes leading the way with a 154 finish, closely followed by David Moule on 151 and Alan Vines with 149. Paul Barnard and John Cost both had 116 and 114 respectively. Regardless, none equaled winner Moule who hit 160 earlier in the season. In an attempt to close the gap, Kev Parsons hit 11 tons this week but it wasn’t enough to catch Andy Harvey. Harvey finished the season in top spot with 142, 6 ahead of Parsons. Paul Walker didn’t add to his 180 total but he was far enough ahead that it didn’t matter. Walker finished on 17 overall, 7 ahead of John Cost on 10. A 2nd defeat in his last 3 games for Alan Turnell saw him drop from joint top of Most Legs Won to 3rd place. Harvey secured 1st place with a 5-0 win and was closely followed by Walker, only 2 legs behind. A 12 dart leg in the final week from Moule means he shares the prize money for the fastest leg with Walker and Hayes.
Some interesting facts for players that played at least 30% of the games. Turnell had the most legs won percentage on 77%, winning 50 legs from the 65 played. Next was Harvey on 76%, 53 legs from 70. Moule finished with the most games won percentage on 88%, winning 7 of his 8 games played. Walker followed closely with 86%, 12 wins from 14. Only two players averaged more than 10 tons per game, Parsons achieving 10.46, that’s 2.09 per leg, and Harvey on 10.14, 2.03 per leg. It just goes to show that it’s imperative that you don’t miss a week. Based on these stats, we would have had different winners for most legs won and most tons. There were a total of 2,769 tons hit over the full season and 126 maximums. 16 players won a leg in 15 darts or less and 25 players hit a ton plus checkout.
Next week is the AGM for the Summer and the presentation for the Winter. As always, captains must enter their teams for the summer season at the AGM. New teams are welcome, if you would like to play but don’t have a team, let us know as I’m sure there will be enough players to form a team.
Thank you for another great competitive season. I hope this continues for the Summer season which kicks off on 30th April 2024.
I look forward to seeing you all at the Wolversdene club on 16th April 2024.
