The cycle continues: David Moule has claimed his fifth consecutive singles title in the Andover Tuesday Night Darts League.
In the first semi-final, Gareth Wood beat Graham Howard 3-1. David Moule won the second semi-final by the same score against Andy Jurd, producing a 14-dart leg and checking out 120. Andy checked out 115 himself.
The final lived up to expectations, with David Moule coming close to losing his title to Gareth Wood. David opened with a 15-dart leg after scores of 137 and 140. Gareth responded strongly with 140 and 180, leaving himself on 56 after 12 darts. He levelled the match in the second leg, checking out 56 while David waited on tops, then won the next two legs to move 3-1 ahead of the champion. Despite starting the fifth leg with 28, David followed with three ton-plus scores and finished 96 for another 15-dart leg. He then drew level in the sixth, with Gareth poised on 60 to win the match. At 3-3, David held his nerve in the deciding leg as Gareth’s earlier consistency faded.
Across the seven legs, David recorded 13 tons and averaged 25.34 points per dart (76.01). Gareth hit 9 tons and a maximum, finishing with an average of 23.47 points per dart (70.41). David’s advantage came in the first 9 darts, where he averaged 91.67 per throw compared with Gareth’s 70.24.
