Summer 2022 – week 14

And that concludes the Summer League of the 2022 season, congratulations to the Out of Towners. In the end the OOT finished 10 points clear of Hotdogs in 2nd place following a 18-8 win over Wolves A. The Hotdogs closed the gap by 1 point owing to their win against Pewsey Boys 19-7. Peaky Blinders sealed 3rd spot, beating Grand Central 16-10. Therefore, Grand Central finished 4th, Wolves A 5th, Pewsey Boys 6th and Foreign Legion 7th.

There were no last-minute surprises this week so Simon Coxhead’s 167 is the highest outshot. Mark Thorne, Richard Smith and Mike Berntsen share the fastest leg with 12.  Chas Barstow hit another 2 180’s, moving him clear of Luke Getty who failed to hit a maximum this week. Steve Ballard finishes top of the tons chart, hitting 116 for the season. There was no change at the top of the most legs table, Chas adding another 4 to his total and finishing on 48 for the season, 3 ahead of Steve Ballard and 4 in front of Luke Getty.

This years Team Knockout winners are Hotdogs, who beat Peaky Blinders in the final.

As previously mentioned, we have renamed the singles competition played earlier in the season as the Les Brant Singles. Therefore, next week’s competition (27th) has been cancelled. Please ensure your teammates are aware of this.

The AGM and Presentation night is on 4th October starting promptly at 8pm at the Royal British Legion. Please arrive for 7:45pm. We plan to start the winter season on 18th October.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank my fellow committee members Andy Harvey and Pete Bailey and especially Mark Thorne for what I believe is yet another successful season.

Thanks also goes to our sponsors for there continued support.
