Summer 2023 – week 13

For many, this was the penultimate game of the season, and Foreign Legion grabbed their 2nd win 15-11 over Wolves TNT. After a great start to the game, leading 5-1 after the pairs, Foreign Legion suffered two early defeats in the singles that saw Wolves TNT move into the lead. However, taking 8 of the remaining 10 legs of the game completed a memorable win for the bottom placed side. Andys Boys also won, beating Pewsey Boys 16-10. At the top of the table, Naughty Sausages finally succumb to the pressure, with their second narrow win in 2 weeks, beating Arms A 14-12. This enabled Out of Towners to jump into top spot with a 20-6 win over Grand Central.

Only 1 point separates the top 2 sides and both teams have a game in hand that will be played on Tuesday 3rd October. This is the one chance to give themselves an advantage going into the last game of the summer season, where they go head to head to determine who will be champions.

Andy Mitchell hit 13 tons this week moving him to joint 4th but still 21 tons behind the leader Jamie Kelling. Kelling leads by 4 over Chas Barstow. Players this week that managed to hit double figures included Paul Walker (12) and Barry Bowsher, Mike Berntsen and Kelling, all with 10. Barstow seemed to be focusing on maximums this week and his efforts were rewarded with 3, moving him 2 clear of Walker and Kelling. Again there was no change in the Fastest Leg or Highest Checkout, although Alan Vines shot out 144 and Dale Thompson 107. Kelling’s 5-0 win in the singles moves him 3 clear of Barstow who could only manage a 3-2 win.
