Team Knockout – 1st Round
It was once again an early exit for the Out of Towners in the Team Knockout against the Hotdogs. Leading 4-2 after the pairs, the Hotdogs extended their lead with a 4-1 win for Arron Monk over Steve Ballard, the score now 8-3. Andy Mitchell pulled it back for OOT with a 5 nil win against Shane Reidy, levelling the score. Jamie Kelling’s 4-1 win over James Nicholson made it advantage Hotdogs going into the final match of the night, Chas Barstow v Luke Getty. Chas came out on top, winning 4-1, pulling OOT level. To settle the match it all went down to the galloon and it was the Hotdogs who were victorious.
After a close start in the pairs, the Peaky Blinders and Pewsey Boys entered the singles all level at 3-3. Sam Ellis kicked off the singles with a 4-1 win over Wayne Morgan and Simon Coxhead matched this score in his win over Mike Martin. Andy Harveys 5-0 win over Tom Smart confirmed the win for Peaky Blinders. Kev Parsons made it 4 wins on the trot beating Stuart Giddings 3-2. Peaky Blinders winning 19-7.
Despite losing the first pair, Wolves A won the second 3-0 so had the advantage going into the singles at 4-2. Richie Ford had a narrow win over Sean Crysell 3-2, giving them a 7-4 lead. Graham Howard’s 4-1 win over Ali MacDonald levelled the game with 2 games to play. However, Rob Hayes’ 5-0 win over Stewart Clackson and Andy Deavall’s 4-1 win against Sam Pike confirmed the win for Wolves A, 17-9.
The Semi Finals will be played on 9th August, the draw will be made shortly. The Hotdogs, Peaky Blinders and Wolves A will be joined by Grand Central (GC had a bye). There won’t be a Plate competition this year owing to the number of teams in the league.
