David Moule is soon becoming the player to beat in the Tuesday Night Dart league, and that showed once again in the Les Brant Singles competition.
18 players toed the oche in the Hayward Suite at the Wolversdene club. We kicked off the night with 2 pre-lim games, Steve Jordan beating Ian Cairns in the first game and Andy Harvey beating Tom Smart in the second game, both claiming their spot in the last 16.
For the second competition on the trot, previous winner Sam Ellis was handed a tough first round draw, this time narrowing losing out to Kev Parsons 3-2. There were 4 other close games going down to the final leg to determine a winner in that round.
Fast forward to the semi-finals and in the first game David Moule was taking on Kev Parsons. Kev started off strongly, going 2 up before David pulled a leg back. David started the next leg with a 180 and went on to claim that leg to level the match. Into a deciding leg that saw Kev go 100, 140, 140, 97 and then miss double 12 for the game. David wasn’t too far behind, and he took advantage of missed doubles by Kev to claim his place in the final.
The second semi-final was Sean Crysell against Andy Harvey. Andy went into a 2-nil lead before Sean banged a couple of 140’s, the latter leaving him double 3, and after a couple of visits to the board, missed D3 and D1, Andy came down and checked out.
The final saw excellent darts by both players. David Moule went into a 2-nil lead, with 16 and 15 dart legs, with Andy close behind on 50 and 54 respectively. Andy checked out 66 in 3 darts to claim the third leg, with David on 10. Into the fourth and fifth leg and it was much of the same from David, winning in 16 and 17 darts, checking out 56 in 2 darts, again Andy waiting for a sniff at 46 and 16. It couldn’t have been any closer, David winning 4-1 with a 29.01 (87.03) and Andy on 27.82 (83.46).
